Amonera was at the edge of habitability – an inconvenience to weather out. Glass domes shielded a handful of outposts awaiting the arrival of a colony vessel that would bring terraforming equipment, adjust the atmospheric composition and make the endless karst plains more welcoming. The transmission came and announced the ship’s approach. It was the last entry in the outpost logs.
A scout probe met its end long before it could see what was happening on the surface. But even the few scans and photos it managed to send back until getting shot from the orbit – of a planet changed beyond recognition, choked with noxious clouds – were enough to sanction the involvement of Death Corp Spec Ops. They sped towards Amonera, determined to eradicate whatever threat had made its nest there.
Ravenswatch Cultist
The ship was doomed from the start. Ferlans were never wiped out, and neither were their collaborators. Eggs found their way in the cargo hold and cultists – the Faithful, as they elect to call themselves – infiltrated all key systems to make sure their dormant goddess and her retinue would make it to a new home. After hijacking the ship, they used its terraforming capabilities to create perfect conditions for their masters and killed everyone who did not convert.
Death Corps Specops
What used to be a group of private contractors became an ascetic military order. It deals with dangers of deep space; a lancet to carve the tumor out before it grows to unmanageable proportions. A fragment of its fleet is now on its way to Amonera. With no illusions about the attrition rate, members of DCSO treat each mission as a sacred journey with no return.
